Exercise Tips

Exercise Tip #1 – Start off slow

If you are not currently exercising, the worst thing you can do is to jump right into an aggressive workout routine.  Why? Because factor this aggressive workout routine with the typical accompanying calorie reduction from a diet and your cravings are going to go through the roof!  I have had issues with binge eating in my life.  Creating significant calorie deficits with aggressive workout routines was one of the triggers.  I highly recommend to purchase a heart monitor and start off exercise in the fat burning zone.  Walking is a great place to start your exercise routine.

Exercise Tip #2 – Keep it Simple and make it fun

Redefine exercise to anything that gets your heart rate elevated.  There is no need to run out and join a gym, or purchase expensive programs for the magical 3 payments of $39.95.  The key to motivate yourself is to find something fun.  This could be walks in the park, tennis, playing soccer with your kids, etc.   On the flip side of this, I will share that my wife is an exercise DVD fanatic.  She loves Sean T and now has P-90x3.  She enjoys these programs because it challenges her.  For me, I prefer to do my own routines ; this way I don’t have the excuse of “it’s too hard” or “that trainers annoying”.   Keeping it simple and fun gives me fewer reasons not to exercise.
